Random things...
Oct. 22nd, 2004 11:21 amGO SOX!!! WOOOO!!! Sox are in the series. I'm still in shock that:
a) The sox beat the yankees. What a comeback! What a series! Best series of Baseball I've ever watched.
b) I find myself actually caring about the sox. I guess 5 years in boston rubbed off on me.
Now, on the more political side....
Jesse Jackson rules! Check this out... he just introduced two bills into the house, and I would be shocked if either one had a snowballs chance in hell of passing. H.J.R. 109 is a constitutional amendment that would abolish the electoral college. I can't say I'm all too against the electoral college in theory, but my main issue is that since congress refuses to change the number of districts, people in populous states votes count less. Also, something should be done about the fact that if you live in a solid state, your vote is essentially useless.
The second, and more important of the two bills is H.R. 5293, which would force all federal elections to be done runoff style. It's like he read my mind... You would rank your votes on the ballot, and if no one got a majority of the votes, you would remove the lowest vote getters until someone's vote count got to the 50% mark. Boo Ya! I know, there is almost no hope that this will pass, but please, pray with me, or call your congressman, or threaten to kill someone unless this passes, or something. Then again, if the Red Sox can beat the yankees in four straight elimination games, anything is possible. Maybe the best is yet to come.
Also, I got a haircut! I liked it at first, but now I think it might be a little too short... sigh.
