I'm a bit dumb...
Jul. 13th, 2005 09:39 amOk, so last weekend I went up to the Hamptons. My old roommate Josh is the manager of a "hotel" for jewish twenty somethings out there, so when the place isn't mostly full, his friends can come up and stay for the cost of food, say... $50. It seemed like a great idea for a cheap weekend getaway, since I'm kinda broke this month. It turned out to cost a bit more than I thought. Knowing from experience that everyone up there was going to be smoking, and that I would want to smoke too, I was going to go downtown and see if I could find some cloves before I left (Oh, I quit smoking about two months ago).
So, the place I (used to) buy smokes is on 15th and sansom. I was heading down chestnut, and got to 15th and realized that you can't make a right onto 15th from chestnut. Now, before I tell you what happened (though you could probably guess), I must tell you that my license is expired, and I have the renewal card, but not an actual license. So I was thinking when I left that it would suck if I got pulled over since I didn't really have a valid license. Now... back to reality... I made that illegal right turn. And of course... there was a cop watching. He pulled me over. I didn't do a very good job selling the "I didn't notice the three no turns signs or the straight ahead green arrow light" line... my cheap weekend instantly shot up by a cool $115. Fun.
The hamptons were fun though. Josh and Lyle were there, so we spent saturday building things and playing guitar and eating and I installed my car MP3 player at long last. It was a good time. Except that when I woke up on sunday, after a saturday full of smoking and drinking, I couldn't remember where my phone was. I looked all over for a few hours, but it never turned up. I left without it. And without one of my shirts. And my deodorant. And (I thought) my iPod.
I spent the next day or two feeling dumb and iPodless. Then I found it in my laptop bag in a pocket I don't normally use. I'm dumb. Oh, and Josh found my phone and is (hopefully) shipping it back.
