Ok, so a lot has been going on in my life:

Went to dinner with Alison on her birthday (June 8th)... her parents took her and seven of her closest friends to Mikado for sushi. It was an absolute blast, and I still haven't posted/sent her the pictures from the dinner. Because I'm a bad person. Not to get off on a tangent or anything, but I really need to get better at following through on things I say I'm going to do.

That saturday (10th) was my birthday, for which I received a new grill, and fun grilling toys. Also, I spent the day hanging with my whole immediate family, which is always a pleasure. Lunch with dad, then dinner in town with Mom. My younger brother and his girlfriend(shiksa! [not a judgment... I think she's way awesome]) were present for both. There was also a mariachi involved in the dinner, which was at a nice little mexican bistro at 4th and girard.

Sunday (11th) was the super-mondo Kickball/BBQ party for both Me and Alison. Lots of people shows up, including quite a few from new york, and there presence made me feel oh so good about myself. I love when people schlep into town just to celebrate me. My older brother came too, for which I am also extremely grateful because A) he's awesome, and B) he did most of the grilling because I was too drunk/chatty to do it myself. It was the best birthday party I've ever had, bar none. As a side note, that's two "best ever" parties thus far this year (new years was the other). I guess it's just my year for throwing parties.

Monday (12th) I went with Alli to see the Starlight Mints play at the North Star Bar. First show in a while. The last time I saw the mints, it was in Boston, at TT the Bear's, and a grand total of 10 people showed up. It was sad, but I'm happy to report that this concert was much better attended, though still not as big as it should have been. They deserve to be playing bigger, better venues like the Electric Factory. Oh well. Also, both of the openers were cool, especially the first one, Octopus Project. I tried to classify them, and the best I could come up with was "Ambient Hard Rock". There were no lyrics, some techno backtracks, and lots of hard guitar, bass guitar and drums. Plus, they had a fantastic sense of showmanship. The Mints ruled, as always. They're so peppy on stage. I so badly want them to be successful.

A side note of clarification: since Alli and I are going out... dating... whatever. and Alison is one of my best friends, the confusion is palpable in many conversations. I hereby proclaim, therefore, that I shall refer to Alli as Alli, and Alison as Alison, from now on. Now, if only I could actually get myself to do that. Seriously... it's confusing.

Anyway, then on friday (16th) we had a Sushi Night "goodbye" dinner for Micah, since he's moving to Mexico soon... we had 25-30 people I think, and there was lots of sushi and beer and liquor. It was a very fun time, and provided me with leftovers... which brings me to my next point:

I have a new blog. It's a food blog. I will be posting pictures and recipes and maybe the occasional "philosophy of cooking" post. Maybe. I'm not entirely sure what I'm really going to end up putting up there, but it will definitely be full of delicious food porn.
