This week sucks.
Apr. 27th, 2005 01:54 pmSeders were fun. First night with my father, second night with my mother. We had second seder with the Friedmans, which is always a shitload of fun. My brothers and I can sling bits from comedy routines back and forth and add in our own stuff pretty damn well, but watching Jake, Aaron and Zach do it is a whole different ball game. They're on the same brainwaves all the time. It's hilarious.
This week sucks though. I'm pretty much broke. I forgot to go to a lecture that I had tickets to. It's pesach, so I have no food to eat anywhere except my parents.
And frankly, all of that was just idiocy.
Yesterday morning, my grandfather was a reasonably healthy 86 year old man. He fell on his way to the bathroom at some point yesterday, and had to be airlifted to baltimore for surgery. and now he's brain dead. And I'm at a loss for how to deal with it. I'm numb. Just like that. I knew he was getting old, but he wasn't frail, or senile or doing that poorly. And now he's gone. He's hooked up to all kinds of machines, and his body is alive, but he is gone. He was an incredible man. He made so much from so little. He was a naval engineer during WWII. He was the CEO of the Serta DC area franchise. He was a history buff who has one of the best private collections of Jeffersonian writings. He was a sailor. He was all that and so much more. And now he's gone.
