Whew... lots happened in the past few days. Here's what:
Thursday:
Akiba Graduation. My brother is now almost officially a college student. Scary. He's going to GW in DC. Which is good, because it gives me more of an excuse to go down there and visit a crapload of people who I've been neglecting to visit. Mrs Weisgrau was the graduation speaker, which kicked ass. She's my hero. Heroine. Heroin. Whatever. Anyway, it was wicked cool to see Weisgrau, Kamen, Lehrer, and a few other random classmates (Suzanne, Okon, Aviva).
Friday:
Sickly... as you all know. I went home to hang with the fam and be a lazy bum and be fed excellent food.
Saturday:
More being lazy and slightly less sickly. Had lunch with dad, and he gave me my B-Day present, a swank new digital camera. Olympus Stylus Verve S.

Isn't it sexy? No... really. I would have sex with it if I could find a large enough orifice on it's sexy black body. Sadly, my dick won't quite fit in a USB-mini port... if only it had a standard port. I mean... uhhh... Yeah.
Saturday night I went home to west philly (does anyone else have the problem that "home" refers to like... 3 different places?) to make room for the couch I bought that I had to pick up sunday morning. I got into a cleaning frenzy, which is good, because my place was a sty.
Sunday:
I rented a truck and moved my new couch in. Micah helped / bought chair for himself. The couch is so foxy hot it's crazy. It also is ginormous, and takes up pretty much the entire room. I'll post a picture of it when I.... yeah... never. Come and see it. Then I drove down to DC for a stockholders meeting at the family company.
Monday:
Stockholders meeting in the morning, which was basically a family reunion. Both of my mother's siblings were there, two of my cousins, and some other relatives whose relation I'm never quite sure of. Then we had lunch and played around in the showroom for awhile. We make mattresses, so it was fun to just try all the different models. I lurve the tempurpedic style one we make. I want it. I would have taken one, but I just got a new mattress like... a year and a half ago. And my mattress rules. Don't skimp. Buy a serta. We rule.
Tuesday:
I went to get my passport renewed today, but I forgot my confirmation number, and my itinerary, and so they could do nothing for me. It was shitty. So I walked back. It's fucking gorgeous outside. A bit hot though.

Ah, Mrs. Weisgrau, she ruled--along with the rest of the English department at Akiba. Oh yes.

Serta... sort of. My family all told owns a majority of AW industries, which is a regional Serta franchise. Serta used to be a full franchise corporation, where a franchisee would pay annual dues to manufacture serta mattresses for a region of the country. franchisees would manufacture mattresses to the specs that central office sent them, and in exchange got to use the Serta name on their mattresses. Our company manufactures and delivers Serta mattresses to the MD, VA, DC area. We have exclusive manufacturing rights there... But, for a long time the majority of the Serta franchises were owned by two shell corporations (American Bedding Corporation [ABC] and Sleepway). Sleepway went under a few years back and ABC bought them up. Now ABC owned about 80% of Serta franchises and didn't want to continue paying dues to corporate, so in a weird agreement, ABC essentially bought out corporate, with terms of the deal being that they continue to function as corporate would so that the minority owners (us and a few others) could still function pretty much the same way. Anyway, Serta's gross income totaled about $850 million dollars this year, $55 million of which was brought in by AW. We're the largest of the independent franchises, but still pretty small in total (6.4% of gross). I own a fraction of a percent of AW. I think...
Thanks for tuning in to The History of Serta! Next time: Simmons... the satanic pedophiles of the Mattress Industry!
