Good Weekend
Oct. 24th, 2005 10:23 amI had a good weekend. Friday afternoon, I drove down to DC to visit my brother / Jon Stewart. It was GW's parents weekend, plus saturday was my brothers birthday, so I decided to come down. Though mostly it was to see Jon Stewart. He did an hour and and a half of standup followed by 15 minutes of question and answer stuff. He was amazing. So fucking cool. I decided to stay with my little brother at his dorm that night, partially so that I could easily get to Alon and Bec's for shabbas lunch (they live across the river from GW) and partially so I could drink and hang out with my brother. We hung out, drank, played poker, played stickball, bought and smoked cheap cigars, and generally fucked around. It was a good time. I went to sleep around 4 because I was passing out. My brother apparently stayed up another three hours. I feel old.
Saturday afternoon, I went to Alon and Bec's for lunch. It was awesome to see them, and their new place. It's faboo. And the food was great. Turkey and stuffing and stuffed apples and cake and other tasty stuff. After lunch, I read for a while, and we went up to the roof of the building to look at the view, which was amazing. We could see the Washington Monument, Lincoln memorial, Pentagon, Watergate, Kennedy Center. And we were surrounded on all sides by the office buildings of defense contractors. That night, we saw Serenity (again), and I went to diner with my Mother and Step Father for my brother's birthday to Ruth's Chris. Much meat was had by all, and it was good. I think I ate more red meat last week than I have in the last few months combined. I'll hold off for a while... it was overkill on protein and fat. Still good though.
Sunday, Alon, Bec, and I went to a badass brick over pizzeria in Georgetown. I think they made their own ricotta cheese, it was so fresh. The pizza was amazing, as were the eggs poached in marinara sauce, and the oven roasted olives (which i think it so obvious that I never thought to make it). Then we went to a sports bar to watch the eagles game. That was nerve racking. Then I drove home, and failed to stop in havre de grace for good seafood. Maybe I'll drive down there just for the seafood soonish... it's that good.
