Until I started working, I had no appreciation for 3 day weekends. Given that I spent the last few years of my college career with 4 day weekends every weekend, the appeal of one extra day didn't seem all that great. I never really did much with my weeks, so there wasn't anything to take a break from. Now that I'm working, it's a whole different story. All of the sudden, that extra day was like manna from heaven. So what did I do with that time? Well, not a whole lot. Which is exactly what I needed.

I had a calm dinner with my roommate (Lyle) and a friend of ours, Josh, who will be henceforth known as Shelton, because that's his nickname, and because of the confusing number of Josh's involved in my life. We had a similarly relaxed lunch the next day. Afterward, I went to Microcenter to make use of a coupon I had before it expired. Using said coupon, I bought super cheap Blank DVD-R's which I spend the whole weekend trying to get to work. I found out that my burner is finicky and doesn't like to burn all media at all speeds. So I can only burn them at 2x instead of 4x. BOOOOOOO! Anyway, I went over to Anna's place that night and got good and wasted. Danielle had just moved out, so she, Anna and I relaxed and watched Punch Drunk Love. It was great. It was like a shorter, more comprehendible Magnolia. Like Magnolia, it was beautifully filmed, and brilliantly acted. And at times, confoundingly weird. I would go into more detail, but I really don't feel like it at the moment. Ask me if you really care.

Anyway, sunday I set out to do nothing. I was mostly successful. Josh (JR) and Terri came in from out of town, so Lyle, Shelton, JR, Terri, and I went out for burgers. MMMmmmmm... Pastrami burgers.... sooo goood. Anyway, Das dropped by during the dinner, so it was like a crazy old times reunion. Afterward, we all headed back to our apartment and watched Lost in Translation. Supremely good, as many others have pointed out already. Again, if you actually want to hear my opinion/discuss it with me, feel free to e-mail, call, or IM me.

Monday was godly. Aside from not being at work, which absolutely kicked ass, Lyle and I headed down to the Guitar Center Crazy deals day in honor of our expired troops. God only knows why Commemorating our troops requires us to buy things at extreme discounts, but that is beside the point. The point is, that I bought a kick ass modeling amp. The Vox AD60VT, for those who care. I had been planning on going into the store to look at that amp, and possibly the Fender Cyber Champ, figuring I would buy one as soon as I sold my oversized, overpriced old one (Marshall VS100R head + cab $500 for anyone who wants it). As I looked around, and checked out the discounts on the master price list (apparently they were too lazy to relabel everything that was on sale), I noticed that the AD60VT was listed on the price list for $299! Since it normally goes for $799, I immediately grabbed a guitar (52 Tele reissue... oooooh so sweet), and planted my butt at that amp, refusing to let anyone even touch it until I decided whether or not to buy it. In the end, it was too good a deal to pass on, so I took it home with me. The footswitch was even on sale with it! Score! After I got my baby home, I spend the next several hours playing around with it. I don't think I've learned half of what it can do yet, but it definitely kicks ass. In the end, I failed to really do anything else with my day. I played guitar and burned DVD's and watched the Stanley cup finals and ate pizza. What more could you possibly ask for in a day?

Mmmmm.... lunch time.
